Backing up now to show some work I was too busy to post.

Gutter areas were sandblasted, epoxy primed, seam-sealed, and epoxy-primed.

This part is not for the faint of heart.
This bus was literally save from the crusher. I arrived at Baton Rouge LA at 4am in the mourning to beat the tow-truck that was arriving at 8am.

I am all about not making major mods but could not resist.

I decided to go swing-arms so I would not have to go to low. Bay swing-arms have larger bearings and are stronger than beetle swing-arms.

Inner brackets cut from a 76 bay torsion housing.

68 and 76 rear swing-arms. I will keep the 5x205 drums and backing plates if I decide to go OG 15in wheels.

Only the early swing arms will work. You can see the difference between the 68 and 76 arms. 68 arms are on the bottom.

Original cradle was beat to hell. I sourced a complete straight cradle with horns that is hanging in my barn to take back to stock some dy.

Placement of swing-arm brackets is very crucial to tire alignment.
If not done correctly tire wear will be a problem.

After about two weeks of measuring, finally welded brackets.
The thought of welding incorrectly was very stressful.

Had a local alignment shop do a four wheel alignment and everything checked out. What a relief.

I decided to fabricate a battery strap to my own specification rather than buy a reproduction.
Orange strap is from a 76 bay fuel tank strap.

I like what you have done with the early bay irs conversion. What was the effect on the track width?

Thx!

I have the measurement for the rear track in my notes, I need to locate the greasy note pad somewhere in my shop.

I need help with right rear turn signal not working.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Brake lights work on both sides.
Front right turn signal lights up.
All other lights work as they should.

After looking at the wiring diagram, I'm guessing blinker switch on the steering column.

I am assuming black with red stripe is right brake and turn signal.

I would agree with you Brett, start with the switch. It's the only thing that could be wrong. The red and white wire might need to be soldered back.

I purchased these reflectors from the classifieds to ad some visibility to the rear of my bus.
They are plastic with a similar pattern as earlier buses.

I did not want to drill any new holes and had on hand some metal left over from some military Hummer seatbelts I installed in my bus.

These are not correct but I think they will work for what I want.
