Porsche 924/944 use the same CV joints. Pelican parts shows them, as other places that sell Porsche parts too.

These appear to just be Bus CVs, which I can buy locally if I wanted them. The ball sizes are wrong for Type 4 going by the measurements they have given.

No, these are not standard bus cv joints. No they are not type 4 joints. Yes the bolt pattern is the same, yes they are 100mm od, and yes they have standard 33 splines.

They are custom cv joints made with stronger chromoly cages and 24-25 degrees of articulation, actually a few more than stock Type 4 joints. They bolt right up to 100mm VW/Porsche/aftermarket flanges. Wink

Is everyone clocking their joints? That does make a huge difference.
I am speaking of the 98-5085 empi joint.

How do you know their operating angles? It doesn't list anything on the link.
I'm not being rude, just wondering if you have a set or have more info on them?
I would consider getting a set of these just to try.

Appletree doesn't specify it, but EMPI has it in their catalogs. I know they are honest about these cv joints because I know several people who have had them operating maxed out for years with no problems, and beat the tar out of them on the logging trails and old abandons mining roads up north here in Michigan.

I think tacotruckin got the misfortune of two lemons in a row. Wink

Two lemons in a row is more than enough for me to advise other people not to waste their money.

And as far as shipping, smiley has new friends in the right places Very Happy .

Yeah. I tried on the website to get a shipping quote. But no bingo outside of the States.

Terryly, I would love to go 930s. But can't really justify the cost with stock arms. Maybe once I build some 3x3s down the track...

Part number 98 5085, look it up and I'm sure you will be able to find a supplier in your area, or some online sales joint that ships globally for a reasonable price. Wink

I had the german type4 and they lasted a while but some bad grease killed them fast.

I ended up getting a couple empi off road type 2s and put them onone side of buggy and have a pair of german type 4 on the other all were new when installed So far they have looked great and the empis are also holding out really good.I am running at 22 degrees on the limit straps and im sure stretch puts those numbers a lil higher at times.

I am using swepco grease too.The type 4s i got i took apart and polished the stars and removed sharp corners from the cage its not a chromo cage just a stock type4 and i also clock all the cvs since im near or at max angles.

Is it possible those vibrating CVs just needed some clocking?

No amount of clocking would stop the vibration/binding on my car.
