Hey Peoples,
I'm looking to purchase a Fastback, I found one but its a decent trip away and would like to be pretty committed to the purchase before I make the drive with a trailer in tow.
The car i'm interested in is as 72 with the interior currently removed, with new door cards and seat covered provided. The dash mat is stuffed though and the roof lining doesn't look great.
Car was painted around 2 years ago and claims of it being "rust free" have been made. The engine runs and the cars drives fine apparently. All that is being taken with a grain of salt.
Can someone with a keen eye review these photos for anything dodgy?
Thanks

Steering wheel is on the wrong side- other than that it looks pretty nice. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

Check the bottom of the A-pillar by tapping with your fingernail or using a magnet to see if they bond-ed it up and painted over rust out. Check the wheel well area there, too. Check along the heater channels for the same. Sometimes a good recent paint job is done to cover sins for a sale. Check the battery tray and pull up the front carpets to check around the heater outlets.
If the body is as good as it looks on the outside, it looks pretty unmolested and is a good candidate. |

Hey I saw that car advertised and it was on my watchlist even though I'm not in the market for a car so that says that I thought it might be good value and would not be too scared of making a trip.
I went for a 4 hr drive when I bought mine with car trailer in tow on the basis of a couple of potato cam pics. If it's the right price sometimes that kind of gamble is worth it.
The pics indicate it's very neat which is a surprising change from the amount of rat-fecked rustbuckets I've seen lately. A big plus is that it's located in a relatively dry part of the state far away from ocean breeze and humidity so should not have too much rust although the window rubbers can dry out for the same reasons and let in some precipitation to pool under your carpet and rot out your floors if it lived outside.
You should ask about condition of the floorpans and question if they hit the car with a hose does any water gets in via the fresh air vents at the base of the windscreen or via any window rubbers? _________________ Sydney, Australia.
