So we got the front fenders off after some labour since many were rusted on.

I've never liked Volkswagens without fenders. Looking at them like this honestly sort of weirds me out

Anyways tomorrow we are gonna hammer out the dents, go to a good local paint shop and reinstall these. Also hopefully the electrical system will get here soon.

Hey guys so we've made some progress the left fender has been taken to get sandblasted and we've hammered out all the dents in the right one and sanded down the bad paint areas so it can get repainted

We've also taken the hood off of the car, the hood on the left is the one that has been on the car ever since the accident but it is the wrong model for a 56 the one one the right is the one that it wore before the accident but got crunched. It has since been repaired. So we are gonna sand down the paint and hammer out any left over dents and put it back on

So we have brought the hood to the shop and we have sanded down the bad paint areas and hammered out the dents although there is a crack in the front of the hood we will need to weld back. We also got a new clutch for the engine and the motor will get reinstalled this weekend and hopefully the electrical system will be put in too

So with the help of a good friend, some grease, and a clutch alignment tool the engine now has a new clutch. Although there is definitely some problem with the motor because you can easily turn the flywheel. So we will be looking into that. We are also prepping the fenders for the Porsche arctic silver paint so they can be put back on the car.

Hey guys sorry it's been so long there wasn't way too much to report I've just spent the past few days prepping the fenders and Hood for painting so the basic bondo on primer on sand down repeat. But today they were nice enough we were able to take them to a good friend and local go to car guy Reid (the giving tree) Allenburg who has all of the paint and car know how.

So the hood is properly primered and tomorrow we will take the deck lid to finish masters to replicate the paint color. That's all for the moment have a good day!

I hate to burst your bubble after you've put so much work into it, but that hood is not correct for your car either. A '56 should have a 4-tab hood and that is a 3-tab. Just thought I'd point this out before you painted it at least.

Oh we know but that was the hood on the car when my father built it and they are essentially identical once the label is on it.

Sorry about the lack of recent posts there just hasn't been too much to report. It's just been body work and trying to make the fenders look good. But today we have some big news! Our carpet kit came in!
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

It's a TMI oatmeal carpet kit which is exactly what was put in the car when my dad built it.

Love the color choice. Do you plan on bringing it back to the magazine shoot look?

Hey sorry for the lack of updates. Me and my father have been very sick with a flu that's going around. We haven't forgotten about the bug though. We will get it running once we get over this gnarly cold

So we've gotten very close to finishing the fenders and hood. Just one 400 sanding and then we can tow the Volkswagen over, mount the panels, and paint!
