anybody switch over to this type of belt? pros vs. cons? looks way cooler but is it worth it? or does it create other issues ? just aquired a 73 thing

I reason I did not it was because we can get a belt from almost any auto parts stores but a serpantine belt would alot harder to come by, I guess you could carry spares. and it does not add power or suspension. Things are alot more fun when you triple the horsepower.

Looks good but that's it.

It can over accelerate the fan and even if its welded, it can explode.

Supposedly the belt always slips at higher rpm with the stock setup even when moderately tight. This keeps the maximum speed of the fan down. With the serpentine system you might see significantly higher fan speeds if you are really revving the engine and as Glenn said this could cause the fan to explode. Will this really happen, i just can't say.
