Hey all,
I've spent a lot of time diving into front disc brake threads and know which route Im going there, but it'll be a while. I've got a lowered stock setup, all new drum in front, so it's good for now. My rear is a type 1 long axle, with type 3 drums and pads. The type 3 parts are hard to find, I looked for pads before but couldn't find any that lined up right. There's a place in So-cal that makes them and swaps them out, but I figure if I'll be investing cash into the rear, just do the disc brakes, since Im going 4 wheel disc in due time anyways. Preferably I'd start up front, but in this case I may do the rear.
I know there are some threads for this, but none too too recent unless I missed it? So, with a type 1 68' long axle rear on a 65' bus, and off-set lowered spring plates, what kinds are available currently? Are we buying bug rear disc brakes for this?
Also, the MC needs to be swapped out I'm sure. I hear the asian ones aren't too shabby?
Thanks in advance. |

It is generally a bad idea to have more braking power in the rear of a vehicle than in the front. If you install rear discs, install front discs to match, or don't do it at all. |
Stock setup = stock rims? = 5x205?
That might limit some of your options... especially if 14".
