Hello fellow Samba go-ers. I am a 16 year old whom shares the same passion as you do: A love for Vintage Volkswagens. Don't ask me how I inheireted such a passion, as neither of my parents are "car" people. Either way, I've known that i would drive a Bus the rest of my life since i was 14. This thread will be dedicated to the progress made in returning this bus to the respectable condidtion it deserves. All comments and input are always welcome. Enough about me, now for the bus.
It is currently on a trailer headed from GA to Plainfield Il, so any NIVA guys out there, beware, and be ready for some questions and involment in the local club. Well for now heres a little tease to hold you all over until tomorrow afternoon when this beauty arrives.

Congrats and welcome! Don't be afraid to post a lot of pics, otherwise your claims will go unvalidated The search feature will prove invaluable, but know that no question regarding your bus will go unanswered here!
Is your bus a euro model with semaphores? _________________

As well as bench seat panel rear vents on an 11 window, and a deluxe clock hole in the dash. It will be interesting to see what's hacked and what's OG. _________________ EMPI Power Rules! |

Yes, you guys are right, this is is no ordinary bus. It is in fact verified as being a panel in a former life, but was hacked with the intention of eventually becoming a faux deluxe as indicated by the dash clock hack. As soon as I get home from school i will for sure document anything else I find and try to find out a little more. |

You are lucky to be able to have a split bus at 16 in today's market, congrats! What are your plans? _________________ "A rolling bus gathers no rust." |

So true! Welcome to the Samba, being a bus owner and have thick skin if you plan to do something "Not Original." Good luck on your quest to getting it back on the road. _________________ Anthony

Thanks so much guys, all this encouragement really means a lot. And as for plans, for now I'm going through mechanicals, and eventually full paint somehwere down the line. A lot of help from family and close friends, and of course, fellow Samba members, will be what makes this dream a reality. Also, due to the fact that this bus is already "hacked", I have also toyed with the idea of finishing the "deluxization" that previous owners have already started. That would mean corner windows Just an idea, but for now, I'm fixing Mechanicals, doing a couple of local shows, and driving the hell out if it. |

While you're adding the corner windows better throw in an extra window per side and a deluxe rear hatch. Then fasten your seatbelt, cuz you will be in for a spendy ride getting the rest of the deluxe kit! Just look at the price of WORKING deluxe clocks.
Personally, I would roll it just like it is. That bus is going to have people scratching their heads bald trying to figure it out. Add some off the wall options (OG safaris, extended mirrors, etc.) and watch the crowd gather. _________________ "My biggest worry is that when I die, my wife will sell all my parts for what I told her I paid for them"-Jon
