I was searching the web on an unrelated (to VW's) topic and came across this dry looking '63 Turkis Standard (small hatch) in Broad Canyon north of Las Cruces, NM. The thread I was reading dates back to 2010.
I thought I'd pass it along to any hunters near or far and ask if anyone here has any knowledge of the bus...Was it had by someone or could it still be there?
Heres a link to the thread I found it in:

bus looks very dry as you might expect for the desert- are bullet holes considered patina now ? Thanks for sharing! |

I guess the floor could be gone, but the lower door looks solid...so I'd be surprised if the lower metal wasn't pretty good. Probably been there for a long time. Overall looks a good desert sunburn to me...
It's not as shot up as the 'Bullet Bus'...I hope someone is close and can chime in with a story and/or go check on it.

Here are a couple more pics of the same bus. I found these on a different non-VW site (link attached) than previously. It's a walkthrough with OG interior panels...and the cargo floor looks toast.

This bus isn't there anymore. Was snatched up in early 2014 and pretty sure it's already been cut up and donor'd out to help other buses.

Pretty extreme way to get a bullet-riddled nose skin. Wonder what project it's going on _________________ Andy

That hulk has no redeeming qualities since they pilfered and circumcised it. _________________
