Was it shrink-wrapped, bubble-wrapped, vacuum sealed in a bag, and freeze dried then locked in a hermetically sealed dark room? Talk about a survivor.

+1 on keeping the picks coming with a full backstory. Applause

The identification plate in the front trunk is stamped VW or WOLFGANG DENZEL ?

Because I know a lowlight of 1955, which was modified by Denzel and this one has a indentity plate WOLFGANG DENZEL and not VW in the front trunk

I have read before that DENZEL did infact "modify" an early Ghia. Here is a larger photo of the front end. Click photo to enlarge.

That's really cool. Congratulation on scoring such a nice car. Drool

I had seen the car on pictures of the meeting last weekend.
I thought it was RT his denzel powered bamboo car.

Thanks for posting the video. It really sounds great.

Joe, what is the device on the left side of the motor area? Looks like an electric fuel pump or something.

Trevor

That little device is a small generator type motor that is driven with a speedometer cable that is attached to the crankshaft pulley nut.
When the engine is running, it turns/twists the cable and it "generates" an electrical current that is sent to the original
green/red faced tachometer. Pretty need idea! See the video again and you will clearly see the tach. cable attached to the pulley nut.
