Can anyone recommend seats that are reasonably priced? Are most people using the low back fiberglass seats with some foam and a cover? |

Only seats I would put in any ride I build are full suspension seats.... Screw the price its all about comfort... Never again hard shell or poly seats.... MY body hates them (to rigid) and loves full suspension seats... My street ride has "PRP ROADSTERS" high back full suspension on full sliders (for vertically challenged wife) ...
Had poly seats in autocross buggy, never again... Will make weight sacrifice for full suspension seat if I ever build another race car....

Hey guys, what do you think of these miata seats? Seems like a good deal since it includes the sliders and 4 pt harnesses.
This seems like its in my price range and no upholstery needs to be done. Would this be a good choice?

Those seats aren't 'Miata' seats... they are aftermarket seats that may fit in a Miata, or a buggy, depending on the seat width.
The Miata seats that forum members refer to are OEM-factory Miata seats.

Read the links carefully.
Buggy seats require very specific width & seat height measurements. |

From what i have been reading so far is seems like the width is the major issue. That a tight squeeze. I'll keep reading and try to wrap my head around it. |

Also, depending on your height, the height of the seat from the floor to the base cushion.
Some factory seats might raise you up 5 inches or so and if you are on the taller side that could stick your eyes above the windshield.
Some nice 914 seats:

Or some S2000 seats |

The critical width is usually about 19 inches... Its space between most tunnels and side walls of average buggy...

I used seats from a fiero gt. I even installed a Bluetooth amplifier so I can use the headrest speakers for my audio system. This way I don't need a head unit,it just plays wirelessly from my phone. These seats are narrow at the base. Before I had those awful fiber glass buckets, and they KILLED my back. Now I have nice suspension seats that are great for long drives. Btw I covered these with mr mikes leather kits....
As im sure you have figured out, very few nice seats, are narrow enough to fit the floor pan....

I used leather Chevy Tracker seats from a 2001 LT. They were a tight fit, and I had to modify the base to accept seat rails I bought from Speedway.. but they are comfortable, recline, and look good. |

So I had the same issue. Want for comfort, weather resistant, and no money. I was directed to some used Polaris RZR seats. I found many available in my local classifieds and picked up a nice set for cheap. They fit great they are comfortable and they were designed for outdoor use. In Utah there is an abundance of RZR's and they all seem to want aftermarket seats so I found them to be abundantly available. I fabricated simple seat mounts and fit some generic adjustable seat tracks and I was in business.

It seems like everybody is switching to more comfortable seats, but I don't want that. I want some period correct round bottom low back fiberglass seats. I have looked here and on e-bay for a long time, and nothing has come up for sale. All you guys who switch to comfortable seats must have dozens of fiberglass seats sitting around waiting to be sold to me. |
