I have a 67 beetle and a 91 Cabriolet. I am going to look at a squareback today.
This made me wonder if i was crazy..
Then i wondered how many of you all have more than one or two VW's.....and how often do you rotate driving them. And....should i get a third or am i crazy

You should always have a spare Volkswagen in case one doesn't start
63 VW two fold ragtop " Purple Car "
66 VW highly modified Type6 " mini camper "
And an air conditioned car for the wife
95 Buick Century.....76000 original miles
And a truck or van to get parts in
93 ford van .......217000 original miles
that's enough insurance bill for me..... _________________ 63 two fold rag

I have 2 VW's, my '67 bug and an '04 Passat. If it's not raining (or snowing!), I drive the bug (standoffs, don't feel like dealing with any potential issues). Otherwise I'm in the Passat. Although at this point I've got more money into the water cooled than the air cooled. Tune, exhaust, suspension, wheels and tires, sound system.
I also have a '94 Cherokee that sits around most of the time, but is nice when I need to pick up something larger, or when we get a lot of snow. I had a Dodge Dakota for a few months this summer, but just sold that.
I'm always a fan of having multiple vehicles, air cooled dubs a bonus. I just don't have the space for more
Oh, and my brother has a pretty cool '04 TDI Jetta Wagon and my dad has a '02 S6 Avant. The driveway is pretty awesome when we all get together! _________________ 1967 Beetle, 1915cc. ~Daily driver~

At peak, I had 2 Bugs, a Squareback, a Fastback, and a Bus, with only two drivers in the family! I'm down to one now, just the Fastback. |

Sadly, more then are shown in my signature line... It is a disease. I do have a "multi-vehicle" collector plate though which does allow me to drive multiple cars under one license plate... The only way I can afford to do this... _________________ 1974 "Restfalia" Camper 2000 cc EFI 2001-

See the signature line and yes they are all running and driven. I am confirmed crazy. There is a rumor in my small town that its known for old VW's. What isn't being realized is that they are almost all mine- the daily driven ones anyway. _________________ Roads Scholar &

I got 3 plus my son's '70 camper bus in my care. I keep them all running and am always trying to drive each enough to keep the fluids moving and the batteries charged. No favorite....I love them all !! I always keep my eyes open for the next one. _________________ 1963 Beetle

Makes me feel inadequate-I only have two bugs-'62 ragtop and '66 sedan. The '62 is my daily driver but I am slowly restoring both. Since I need a car to drive, I only work on one at a time. Today I am starting my pedal assembly restoration along with replacing the clutch and accelerator cables and both Bowden tubes in the '66.
Frankly, I can see me buying a ghia convertible in the future but I'd be out of driveway space..would also have to deal with the wife who wants a new car right now...hmm...wife or 3rd VW? _________________ '62 T1 rag top.

I'm curious as to whether or not there was ever a case in which one "outgrew" his/her passion for classic VWs. Is it possible? For example, I was building up an MK4 R32 in recent years and I stopped mid-stride because I felt I was too old for the likes of it (39yo). |
