Just bought this '64 panel from a friend. Excited to have a split again. It runs drives and stops as is but I will be going through it as it hasn't been on the road in about 3 years. Has some front floor rust and pass rear corner but has great bones and will make a great camper for the wife and I. Check it out.

Yeah my buddy drew it out as a stencil and sprayed it. I think it's pretty cool and will likely leave it. Makes me laugh for now

I know it looks cut, huh. I think it's just two screws on the speaker's frame.

The speaker was jammed in between the tray and dash. I removed them and remounted the tray correctly. I also managed to get most of the large dent out of the nose this afternoon with the good old football trick.

Indeed. I wouldn't park that in the wrong Spokane neighborhood.

Well I've been pounding the nose back into shape. I've got the big stuff out mostly. The profile shape is back at least. Also took the speakers out from between the parcel tray and dash, this allowed the parcel tray to sit where it is supposed to sit.

I was wondering what happened to that bus. Glad to see it getting some new attention.

Yeah it was just hanging out in the yard of the previous owner till I asked him if he would be interested in selling it. We made a deal and I drove it home. It needs some things here and there and some rust repair in the floors/doglegs but overall pretty solid as it sits, plus it runs, drives and stops already.

Okay so I will be replacing the front floors, doglegs and inner lower valance on the bus. Now with cutting those pieces out will it be necessary to weld braces in place to keep the bus square? First time doing this type of rust repair on a bus.

Well you do not want to do all three simultaneously. Remove floor, and front valance, treat rust, prime and replace valance, install floor. Then remove/replace dog legs.

Well I got started today by removing the front outer valance and front floor. I still need to get the inner balance then I'll be welding in some new metal then onto lower A pillars and doglegs.

You could cut your new floor to fit what you still have there as long as it's still good. Welding the tube and the floor behind the tube would be a PITA.

Just look for the joints in the heater tube where the pieces of tube were slid together. Cut the little bit of welds at each joint and slip apart.

From the "Announcement: Split Bus FAQ and How Tos - *Read before posting*" at the top of the forum.
