So, When my engine starts, there is a squeak coming from the back until it runs awhile. as you can hear here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7Lw9g5N5P0
Any thoughts, Slipping belt, bad bearing, alternator going?
The belt seems pretty good.
Thanks _________________ 1976 Westy Marigold Yellow

Pull the belt off to rule out the alt. and belt.
Good luck

At idle, hit the alternator pulley where the belt joins it with a shot of WD-40.
Noise go away?
Take belt off and sand the pulleys at the belt contact surfaces, scrub belt with a gas or carb cleaner soaked rag, then sand it at pulley contact areas just to scuff off the glaze.
Noise not go away? Alternator bearing is a possibility. So might be a dry distributor shaft.

hey @highlandmurph,
did you figure out what the problem was? I have this same noise ive never had before but it sounds like its coming from the back.
Could be a dry distributor shaft, i havent ruled that out yet. just stumbled on this post. i didnt think about the distributor shaft because it sounds like its from the back but ill try oiling it.
problem fix would be ideal for your post! _________________ '74 ShagWagen
