Some wheels I've never seen before on a vintage Nurburgring Racing split rag from the early 50's. Was driven by Wolfgang Von Tripp. Anybody know WHAT ARE THOSE!
Finally, I must declare that these photos are blatantly lifted from the vintage photos thread and several other places online and were not posted by me.
Edit: I thought the last pic also showed fender skirts on back as a racing accessory, but I realized it's only a shadow

They may be an added on disc to direct cooling air closer to the drum? Brake fade is bad at speed, and probably worse with skinny early shoes

Disney set out 6 small cars because they knew they where going to make a movie about a small car.
They watched the foot traffic looking at the cars, people would pat or pet the Beetle,
but none of the other cars seemed to have the same emotional effect on the people.
And No
The number 53 is because someone in charge I don't remember who, picked the number 53,
because it was Dodger's Don Drysdale's Jersey number
