How do I determine where my idle screw setting should be? I've effed with the idle screw because my bus wouldn't stay running. No idea where it should be. |

the big screw on the throttle body by RPM with a sensitive tachometer. The screw on the AFM using a gas analyzer.
You have to be sure everything else is proper including no vacuum leaks before setting either to a final setting. _________________ “Most people don’t know what they’re doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.” - George Carlin |

Easy to check rpm with the correct tool.
Or you could just dial it in by ear. I set mine by ear.
As stated above you want to make sure first off you have no vacuum leaks!! Then turn the screw till you find the happy place the engine likes;)
I run a mild cam(not stock) and my idle setting slightly rich at 13:3 afm. Most set to 14:1 for stock
If you turn idle screw till engine gets lumpy then turn it back the other way till it smooths out and your done... Now if you have to have the idle speed real high to make engine idle smoothly you have other issues. _________________ Special Thanks to:
