i also like it.. really fine car and i hope you have fun with your project.
but something still gets me wondering about this car..
the 5*205 wheels and the lying headlights look for me like a 66 or former model..
the sparkaefer comes out in 67 with 4*130 wheels and the newer standing headlights..
maybe its an 66 model, but did these have the shorter decklid? i don't know, so please excuse if i'm asking..
greets from germany, too |

Hello,
My Beetle is model 1966 , first registration 03/1967 , however ! That is, he was still 5 * 205 PCD , lying headlights and short decklid! I hope I could help!
Best regards,

yes but that would be a 1968 model. All non-US-spec bugs stayed 5x205 (bar the ones with front discs but this is not the case here) and sloping headlights for the 1967 model year.
the squared bottom decklid (first introduced for 67 my and changed for 68 my for a shorter one) and the two spoke steering wheel nevertheless identify this car as a 1967 (a 1966 sparkaefer would still have had a three-spoke wheel and the curved bottom decklid), maybe made in late 1966.
Wheels are a bit confusing though as '66-on bugs should have the slotted 5x205 rims and flatter hubcaps. _________________ cars:

I also had a 67 that was this same color.
the PO had changed out the wheels, chrome, and seats from a 66
I'll look and see if I have a picture somewhere of it. _________________ My Photobucket for my Herbie Project - http://s1288.photobucket.com/user/TK-439/library/Herbie?sort=3&page=1
