Would there be a problem moving a cam and the pushrod/lifter assemblies to a different crankcase? All the lifters will be on the same lobes as they were originally. I am concerned that differences in the machining of the two crankcases could cause excessive wear if the lifters don't meet the cam lobes exactly the same way. Anyone have experience doing this? Thanks.

I've swapped cams and lifters around on T1 engines, as is sometimes necessary, but I treat it like a new build, and 'break in the cam' upon start up. I've not done this on a 36hp, but so long as the wear faces of both lifter and cam lobe aren't galled or pitted, you should be ok. Particularly with the light valve spring pressures in the 36hp engine.

New lifters can be had for $100 these days

Thanks for the input. It makes sense that the 36hp would have less of a problem than the later type I motors and this is done frequently. I'd still like to hear from someone that moved the parts in a 36hp and how it worked out

I have done it several times in my engine coaxing more miles out of it with no problems for me.

Decided to send my cam to Matthew to get reground to stock specs. This is for a Stone Stock 36 land speed effort, so I didn't want to give up any lift from even the lightly worn cam.

Let me know when your new lifters come in! I'd still like you to make me a set with the 3mm inserts from WW.

Email or call me
