The po mounted (with some kind of glue) a rear view mirror on the windshield of my Ghia.
I saw a youtube vid where a guy heated the metal 'button' with a lighter until the glue melted and the button dropped off.
The only thing: the windshield he was working with was already broken.
So I have no idea if the heat will crack the windshield.
Anybody ever do this? Remove a mirror off a windshield? |

Razor blade, I used to have to remove the glue on mirrors sometimes at the dealership. I would heat the razor blade with my butane torch and then slide it between the button and the glass, slowly pushing it in until it didn't want to slide anymore and then I would take it out and reheat the blade and go at a different side and repeat until the button came off.
I should note that I used the razor blade scraper that we often used for removing inspection stickers or prepping gasket areas. _________________ Formerly known in the forums as "OVALTEEN"
