That's the wrong pulley for your engine. If you use this one, it will slow your cooling fan since it is smaller.
If you need a pulley, search the classifieds here on the Samba. _________________

I ordered one. We will have to see how it compares when it arrives. It has to be better than this dented one I have now. |

From reading the ad link, it looks to be a regular sized pulley
What Bruce is describing is a power pulley. much smaller in diameter. |
No, the new one John sells is a 40hp-1600 size pulley. They are smaller in diameter than a 25-36hp pulley.
Using a 1600 size pulley slows the cooling fan making the engine run hotter. = bad idea. _________________

Just think of it as a winter pulley. You're going to also have to play around with different sized fan belts to find one that fits. Keep looking for the correct pulley and you should be able to get set up properly before summer comes. |

I emailed them about canceling my order if the pulley size didn't match mine. |

A 36hp is NOT a 1200. You said your pulley is bent;straighten it. |

It is correct for a 61-65 40-hp, 1200cc engine.

The 36hp engine is exactly 1192ccs, or in advertising, 1200. _________________

There are 2, 1200 cc motors. Both have a 77 mm bore. Both have a 64 mm stroke. Both are air cooled. That is pretty much all they have in common. _________________

They cancelled my order no problem. I have one place here to call locally so I can go see it in person. |

I understand that Bruce,but every advertiser calls the 36 horse a 36 horse and the 40 horse a 1200. |

I seen that and ordered one from him along with an intake. Thanks for sharing it though. |

I see that you already cancelled, but that pulley would have worked just fine.
The size difference is minimal. 36 hp engines run cold anyways.
I've been running a 1600cc pulley on my 36hp for a couple of years now. I had to switch due to running a machined in sand seal. My 36hp also runs higher compression, ported/polished heads, and larger valves, etc. Engine still runs cold, and even did when I was running my speedwell blower.
A good used 36hp pulley is great too, but you would have been fine.
Original belt works with 1600cc pulley as well...you just need to adjust slightly with generator pulley washers(as designed). |
