This weld is ugly I know, but the R/H side will be better.
Also, this pic was taken mid job, so that cavern of a seam has been welded in now.
? is, how do guys that know what they're doing go about cleaning this stuff up? I'm trying to get the welds flush with an angle grinder and a 5" high speed sander with 36 grit, but the curves associated with are making it darn near impossible.
Should I be using a different tool to smooth these out and what should I do after that. It's in the wheel-well so I'm sure I could just spread some pro-seal on it and then paint with some sort of undercoating, but I would like to do it "right".

Various "flap wheels" are a lot easier to control in your air drill etc. Do not try to grind them down perfectly flat? www.MasterSeriesct.com silver & black will brush on to finish the inner fenders/pans/chassis. _________________ https://imgur.com/user/FisherSquareback/posts

you can use the edge of a cut-off wheel in your angle grinder. _________________ Jesucristo es mi Seņor y Salvador! |

Edge of a cut-off wheel involves a thicker disc than a strictly cutting disk.
The more ground down smaller a disk is, the tighter radius it can handle when using its edge.
You can slow the mini air grander down by controlling the air pressure with an inline regulator.
You might have to re-do some sections of that weld after grinding. It's a learning process. |

3" mini air grinder with a 36 grit disk would be ideal. 4 1/2" electric grinder if you dont have the air to run that type of tool. |

The pros would use a cut off wheel to almost flush, angle grinder or small belt sander and finish with DA.
I think the mini belt sander is easiest.
Try to keep the cuts tighter, no bigger than metal thickness.
