Hey all,
Having idle issues and was wondering if I should pick up an inexpensive 34 pict 3 carb.
Or is this an oxymoron?
Thanks! _________________ '74 Zambezi green Ghia vert, autostick, 101k

Tim at Volksbitz.com can rebuild yours at a very reasonable price or sell you a rebuilt German one.

The 34 pict 3 for an AS will be different than the standard 34 pict 3 carb. It has the vac ports needed for the AS.
What carb is there now and what is the idling issue?
As mentioned. If you have an OG carb you are better off with a rebuild. Volksbitz did mine. _________________ Ghia Owner Emeritus |

Hi. Also inspect your two intake manifold boots. They do age/crack and will suck air in. The intake manifold gaskets are generally pretty reliable, but still a poss vacuum leak source. You can remove the pilot (idle fuel) jet on the carbs right side and see if there could be any debris in the small hole. I have many times removed the carb top, gasket, float/hardware and look into the bowl to verify for debris. I might then sop up the gas with a rag and then use compressed air to blow thru many of the visible circuits. Re-assemble and verify running.
Hope this helps, Bill. |

Thanks everyone. I'll track down all the idle possibilities when I get the chance in 3 weeks.
I'm aware of Tim at Volkzbitz and would like to send him the carb for a good, competent rebuild. _________________ '74 Zambezi green Ghia vert, autostick, 101k
