Hey guys i have a 1972 super beetle. Ive owned if for a few months and work on it when i can. there are supposedly only 2 more if things i have to fix before it is road worthy. when i start off in first the hops until i have gained speed. It doesn't grind gears when shifting. I just have problems starting off.. It also does this in reverse. If there is any thing that i left out let me know. I greatly appreciate the time you guy spend helping me out. Happy thanksgiving!

Oil on clutch driven disc--or too much grease was put on transmission shaft when installing, and the clutch driven disc got some of it.

also improper pre load on bowden tube or broken tranny mounts....the flex tube should have at least an inch of bend to it ...this causes additional friction and kinda acts like a shock absorber on the clutch cable preventing chatter...and a clutch cable tube that has broken its welds to the chassis and slid forward can let the bowden tube straighten out and cause chatter

I took a look at the Bowden tube. It appears one of the previous owners already disconnected the tube and put a spacer to increase the bend in the tube. I will look at the mounts and report on that. There is sometimes a lack of power when driving. Could that mean I need a carb clean or rebuild?
That's for your help!
