Ha! The "oh shit handle", I like that! Laughing
Not enough cars have those anymore, aside from door hand-holds.

Yup. As far back as the center of gravity is going to be in this thing, it's only fair that the passenger gets an oh shit handle since they don't have a steering wheel to hold onto.

I am humbled and impressed. How do you make the ribs in the panels? I would love a few pictures of your metal magic.

Are you using hand tools or do you have a staff of 50 interns?

Amazing!

Ribs are roughed out using bead rolling wheels anvils that came with my English wheel and then finished by hand with hammer and chisel work on the welding table. Final imperfections rolled out again on wheel where possible. They aren't perfect but 'good enough for who it's for' as an old friend of mine use to say.

Only took about 6 hrs total to make all the panels yesterday. No interns. Just me.

I have been using 21ga cold roll for most of the body panels. Gas tank and structural stuff is 18ga. Those are sizes that I can get easily at my local steel supplier. They don't have everything there, and what they have is never totally rust free, but can't beat the price.

Speaker box doubles as my home audio system when I'm entertaining guests. Very versatile tool.

Looking great. Nice metal fab skills. Crafty B makes some headlights and tail lights similar to what you have, also makes some killer shifters. Keep up the great work

So, are you going to fill in like a conventional metal dash or are you going to have a "floating" eyebrow & cluster? (That would be cool as hell.)

Thanks for all the compliments, I'm as stoked as everyone else that this thing is shaping out as well as my 5yr old sketches indicated it might.

Dash will get filled in on top but won't have much else hanging down. Gonna keep it thin and sexy.

The lights have a medallion on them that says patent pending 1921. They were actually manufactured at a factory that's now ruined over on Buchanan street here in Detroit. i am missing one medallion so I actually went over there to dig around in the dirt but realized that was pretty futile so machines out a second one. You would have seen them as options on cars like auburns, cords, duesenbergs. Fancy cars. Wanted a pair since I saw them on a 32 ford down in Austin back when I lived down there. These were picked up off eBay for half of what they typically go for. Advertised as fire truck headlights.
