Just picked up a 72 Camper. As I'm in Australia it's a RHD.
I believe I'm the 4th owner, the first owning it for nearly 40 years. I have the original logbook with all services up to 1984 and sales receipt of when it was purchased from the dealership.
Plans at this stage is to get some of the rust spots fixed. Change the rear rock n roll bed from a 2 seater to a 3 seater. Change the panels and floor covering. And lower it by about 3inches. I'll probably get new canvas in the pop top also. Then I'll just drive camp and enjoy it.
I'll post updates and questions as they happen.
Anyway here are some pics

Thanks for the links Tcash
Here is the sales/acceptance certificate and warranty/log book. Still had same rego plates as the day it drove out of the dealership on. Unfortunately I'm in a different state so need to change the rego. But the same letter/number combination is available in my state, I plan to order them.
My vin Mcode plate

The other day a work mate found out that I got my Kombi. He said to to me that he had an elderly lady next door that used to have a Kombi but no longer owns it as she was no longer capable of driving. But she still had the camping tent for it and had no need for it, was I interested in having it?
Well of course I was.
And what a score!!! It is like brand new.

Love it!
What color is that? Looks to be factory. Could just be my screen, but it looks almost butterscotch from here. _________________ 1976 Westy

Looks great! I wish I could dissuade you from lowering it, though. If you intend to use it as a camper, why limit the places you can go? _________________ John

Thanks. It's an Australian VW only colour I believe. Honey Brown.

Thanks. It's only going down a few inches. No plans to slam it. Should still have no worries getting into all the places I plan to take it. _________________ My 71 Squareback (Sold!): http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=591450

Now that I see the resovoir next to your mystery object, I think it might be a washer pump someone added. _________________ Robert in Memphis

Thanks mate, it could be for that.
When I get it back from having rust cutout and fire blaze cut system installed I'll have to follow the wires.
Took this pic the other day when I was getting it towed. Like all my other VWs I'm sure it won't be the last time it gets towed, just this time it works but not registered yet to drive.
