Hello, I just joined the Samba because I recently purchased a Dirt race mini mod. It was built in 1983 and uses a VW aircooled and a VW transaxle. It also uses VW brakes.
Here is a picture of the car.

Cool. Got any other pictures of the car? Engine? Would make a great sand rail with a set of paddle tires.
That pic looks a little old; is that how it looks today? |

I do have more pictures. It is being reassembled at this time and will be raced in it's original form in a NYS vintage race club.

Just looked at your other posts and pics. Very fun looking car. I see that you are running dirt. Also very fun! I would suggest that there will be quite a lot of maintenance on a mid-engine dirt car like that. Seal that motor up! Are you running methanol? Ethanol? Reason I ask is your mileage will be about 1/2 what you get with gasoline. |

It's a 12:1 engine so race gas will be what I'm running. |

Full containment 079 Series Kirkey Install with new Simpson 5 points harnesses.
I made one mistake. I should have bought pull up to tighten belts.

Tonight the engine rebuild begins.
I know it has 94cc pistons and a stroker crank. It's also has special rockers, pushrods, tubes.
I'm planning on using gapless rings by total seal. |

2 jugs were gone and one piston. Other than that everything looked good. |
