|
|
The bowden tube for my clutch cable has excessive bend in it. I don't have any washers or shims at the transmission mounting point.
I have two questions...
1. Is there different length bowden tubes? Can I find a shorter one from a different year.
2. How much of the metal tube that runs through the chassis protrudes past the rear bulk head? I may not have trimmed enough of this tube after shortening this tube. _________________ Tube Bender Rental in So. Cal.

What is excessive ... should have about 1 inch droop... Yes there is several different lengths.... Believe the are different by "years"....

Looks there are 11-3/4 and 12-1/2 and 12-5/8...

We trim them at 25mm from rear cross section.
If you shortened it then more than likely it will be to long |

If someone well tell me how to post pic I wood show you. But for now I'll just tell how I did mine. !st you take out the old 1 and through it as fair as you can. Then take out the pedal assembly and ( this is where I need the pic) weld a air craft swivel end to the of the clutch rod. Then take a piece of rod from there to the opening of the trans hole and put on a ( I call it a house shoe) U / with a pin and weld it. Then take a sm length of pipe. ( go pick up the tube you through away and cut it) Now weld it in place so your bent tube is just where you need it . ( need pic) install a old cable to the trans into the bent tube into the trans hole . then take the cable around the house shoe and tie it off with 2 cable clamps. You have to have enough space for the cable to move about 3 in from the end of the house shoe to the tube end. ( a pic wood help) I did mine over 10 yrs ago and it is still works today. When you use this idea of mine, Just tell every 1 its a Bob thing. |
