Going from single port to dual port and this damn thing needs to come out.
I've already JB Spotwelded nuts onto it, and they just back out.
If I can't remove this, the case is trash.
Any ideas??
TIA!!!! |

I've hammered on it, gingerly, I'm OK with putting in case savers. Should I hammer like mad on it? |

heat case/threaded area
they may be locktighted
locktight forms a plastic like lock and heat will melt this
grab "stud" not far from case with Visegrips and lefty loosey
do it while hot
not cherry red but probably enough to steam or bubble spit |

Why take it out? I'm assuming you are going to put in shorter studs for the dual port heads, but you can always just cut the existing one down... |

That tool, penetrating oil and heat should do the trick, rarely have I seen one that wouldn't let go, sometimes the case saver would come out too. This is a good reason not to loctite these or if you do use only the green. We've always just used aviation permatex or nothing at all. Good luck and you know what they say about the right tools making the job easier. |

Rereading your post skip the j b weld and use the time honored method of tightening two nuts against each other then put a wrench on the bottom nut turn counterclockwise. |

And if double-nuts don't do the job, try triple-nutting!
It will back out . . . no heat required. _________________ Jesucristo es mi Seņor y Salvador! |

If you all are still concerned, and thanks for your tips, I didn't think cutting it shorter would have done it, but I'm noob when it comes to splitting cases and this kind of upgrade.
I am going to dual port heads, and after tons of WTFing on it (and I did JB Spotweld two nuts onto the threads and they just backed off) it finally came out and the thing is progressing.
Thanks for all the tips, though, I may need them next time. Hopefully, some poor jackass like me found yall on Google and you helped them! |

Glad you solved the problem reread this " You do not need JB weld" when you double nut a stud to install or remove you are using the mechanical force of the two nuts tightened against each other to form a lock on the stud. This technique has been around forever and is taught to every student learning to be a mechanic. It's a good thing you didn't follow the advice of cutting the stud, you would have found the stud too short and run out of threads. You cannot add more threads to these type of studs as they are rolled. |
