Hi - I've recently repowered to a 1.8T in my Syncro camper. Also added new GW Hilift springs and OME shocks. CVs are really noisy and I've gone thru lots of the EMPI CVs (before the repower and shocks). The 944 CVs seem like a good compromise (without oging to the expensive 930 conversion). Maybe the angle is too high now for the EMPIs.
I'm looking for advice on getting axles that will work with the 944 CVs. Now I have the EMPI axles. But I've heard they won't work with the 944 CVs |

944 CVs are a really tight fit onto the aftermarket axles. If you put the axles in the freezer overnight and heat the inner star of the cv, they will slip together pretty easily though. If you drive them together dry, make sure you use a brass or lead hammer, or at least a piece of aluminum between the steel hammer, so that you don't damage the star.
You can also use the 21.25", 33 spline 944 axles. _________________ "Sometimes you have to build a box to think outside of." - Bruce (not Springsteen)

Thanks Christopher -
Any suggestions on where to find the 944 axles? |

I've been wanting to do the same. I've heard Thing cv joints are the same as the 944. Where is the best place to buy? _________________ "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote." - Benjamin Franklin |

I bought ( and LOVE) my 944 joints, boots and grease from Cristopher at T3 Techniques. He stocks the good stuff. Look on Ebay for OE used German axles. Van ones work well, just get some OG ones. |
