|
|
Hi Everyone
Just going through the list of things to fix this winter. The PO seemed to rig up this pump and put the connector on the one end crooked. It started to leak this summer and realized that he had stripped the plastic threading on the pump side. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to either fix the threads or use some kind of epoxy?
attached photos of the pump threading:

Are the treads really stripped? Or just cross threaded? Looks from the photo that there is still a lot of thread there.
I assume it is pipe thread? Can you not just use a piece of solid steel or brass pipe fitting, held straight, very firmly and sort of 'recut' the threads? then use lots of teflon tape? _________________ '88 VW Westfalia

I've used the thick yellow teflon tape for fuel fittings without any problems on virgin fittings. For buggered fittings Loctite PST Pipe Sealant might be a better choice. With tape there is always a possibility of a piece getting into a carburetor or injector. Permatex also makes a fuel tank repair epoxy:

Thanks for the replies. I used the vice and was able to get it in straight with new tape. Thanks for the help! |
