This photo, taken today, is a remake of the cover of the August 1961 Foreign Car Guide. Then & now...55 years later.
1949 Hebmuller & 1999 Kabriolett.
This Hebmuller reemerges after a 40 year slumber, 30 years of that was outside under a tree.
Both Photos were taken in March.

Hi Steve. Great idea to shoot the same pict. That is just great. By now, the car is for sure and confirmed as Heb 428, It was long time known as 401, as this was the date code on the aufbau plate... 04 jan 1950. Then with the rusted bodynr, it was unclear if it was 423 or 428...
Here is the topic that started the fire to your dad and you Steve... and a litle push by Heb hunters

It's such a beautiful car and I don't want to be a Debbie downer, but why did this car sit under a tree for 30 years? Do you still have the original Tail lights? PS: Glad you two are still alive and kickin'. _________________ 1960 Convertible |

It need restoration... and will get it. The floor is rusted out. To preserve the car as it is could be an option with renewed floor and drivetrain. But 30 years of outside storage is not good for a car. _________________ Zelensis, glassfibre body made in Belgium , disigned and built on a VW platform About 25 body's built.

Each year it seems a significant car surfaces, and this is my pick so far for 2016. _________________ We are striving for perfection, to make our cars run forever, if possible.

Ken is a true gear head. Super nice fellow.
Maybe a structural restoration would be nice. Restore the chassis and and integral body parts and enjoy the car as is for now? |

Was the Red VW 'Vert with the Heb in each pic theirs also. The SAME two cars as the orig photo would have been a good pic also.

All of the VW`s in both pictures belonged to my parents. The `55 was sold many years ago.
