I need to take my 56 Oval over to the blaster's in preparation for body repairs. I want the body to be off the pan when it's being blasted in order to get all of the nooks and crannies. I don't have a real good way of transporting the body after it has been removed from the pan, but if the body is still mounted to the pan I can just tow the car using my tow bar.
So....would it be okay to have the body "loosely" attached to the pan with just a few key bolts, so that I could remove the body once the car is at the blasting shop? Would there be any concerns with structural integrity of the body if I did this? Which particular bolts should I leave installed during the tow? I only have a few miles to travel along quiet backroads, and the towing speed would likely never exceed 30 mph.
After the body is blasted, I would just reverse the process in order to tow the car back home. What do you think, is there any reason why this wouldn't work? Your thoughts? Thank you... |

I transported my split on a U haul car carrier with just the two front beam, four front heater channel and the large four under seat bolts with no problems on a 400 mile move.
As long as you don't have anything heavy sitting on the floor pans you should be fine with just those bolts. _________________ Chris
