Last time I checked in, my Sprint Stars would not fit. In light of that, I've gone a different direction with wheels. Like I said on Facebook - Here's a game I learned on Sesame Street: One of these things is not like the others, one of these things is not the same.....

While I'm figuring that out, I got the rear bumper cleaned up and installed with new euro overriders. The new rubbers for the bracket covers are a PITA! They are on there, but they did not turn out good. You'll noticed I saved the "I've got the spirit" Union 76 bumper sticker. It would be cool to find an NOS sticker to replace it, but the old faded one is pretty cool too.

Been awhile since I checked in. Front end parts finally arrived so now to clean up the front (to match the rear) before installation. Got everything out last night and started cleaning away. I wonder what the big "K" marked on top of the tunnel is for? I've never seen one marked like that, but I don't thing I've had one this clean before!

Nice car! Don't know how I missed this thread, I'm always on the lookout for '66s. That dash looks great, the whole car looks really solid and original. Interesting about the K. Didn't see one on mine, but that could have been gone with the rust. Maybe it was to identify that the chassis was destined for the Karmann factory...before the number stamping and pans were in.

Great car!!! Take a good digital picture of the Union 76 sticker with a ruler beside it, then you can take that to a print shop and have it remade. We do it all the time at work for labels on electrical switch gear.

Got the front end put together and she's back on all fours. I still need to get the engine and fuel tank in there before I set the ride height.

A little more progress. Brakes are done and the gas tank is ready to go back in after the POR-15 restoration of the inside and powder coating on the outside...

Yeah, when the outside was media blasted and powder coated, it must have blown through a weak spot.

paints not my thing... and since this is 90% original paint, I'd rather not. My goal here is preservation, not restoration.
