Anyone making new frames? I see that some of the early metal plate frame styles are still available and plate frame company's online allow you to make your own. A good example would be the Chick Iverson plate frames on here. Has anyone thought of making non existent plate frames for their cars?

I own a dealership and yes, while you can order new frames it's an expensive proposition. The places that make the frames have minimum order quantities. Usually of 100 and the metal ones come at a premium cost now.

Haven't scored frames in awhile been busy scoring wheels but my buddies dad came up on these and now they are in my collection...all 5 frames are New Old Stock NEVER been on a vw ever Cool The Victorville Victoria Frame is the rarest of the victoria frames these were a 1 year frame from the early 70's before they ended selling vw's from that dealership so now my Victorville Victoria Motor's collection is now complete finally and it only took 7 year's to do it Rolling Eyes

I'm going to ask a potentially silly question. Do most people search for plate frames from the dealer the car was originally purchased from, or a local dealership? I'm in PA but my car was purchased from Gateway VW in Portland, OR. Any opinions on what I should be looking for? Would a PA tag look foolish wrapped in a frame from Oregon?

If it's from the dealer your car came from, it wouldn't look silly at all.

I had a 91 T-bird that came from Colorado that I kept one of the original dealer frames (still metal) on my PA plate.

People do both.
Some people will also run a plate frame if it happens to have their name on it.

I'm running Arizona plates under a Gateway VW frame right now... the plate frame came on the Bus and supposedly original.

Name example

This is the original frame I was trying to replicate. It was $200 plus shipping.

$18.50 frame
$6.00 shipping
$24.50 total includes setup.

Not perfect, but at 10% of the cost, it'll do.

Has anyone seen one of these frames recently? I found a picture of one one another thread. I was just wondering how rare it was (and how much I'm going to end up paying for one). My '67 is from this dealership and I would think it would be cool to have one. Thanks!

Does anyone have a Younce VW license plate frame they'd be willing to part with?

I will buy, or I have a frame from White's VW in Asheville, NC I would trade.

Thank you!
