FIAT - Failure in Italian Automotive Technology. Sorry, I couldn't resist. Actually I like that model too but you do tend to see more of them in driveways than on the road. My uncle had one when I was young - not a 124. Not sure what it was. I recall pop-up headlights. I thought it was the coolest thing. We used to lay on the hood (probably talking about cars.) Never did see the thing move. Well, not on its own anyway.

Isn't Ferrari owned by FIAT?

One of my first cars was a Fiat 850 sedan. The tin they use seems to attrack rust like steel shavings to a magnet, the wiring is made of crap, the whole electrical system is prone to just up and fry for no apparent reason, they love to overheat AND catch on fire, it you let it sit for any more than 2 days you'll need to check AND bleed the brake system before driving it again, ... I could go on and tell you how I REALLY feel about it but I'm kinda shy! Embarassed

Other than just that, they are a lot of fun to drive, specially when you "upgrade" to a 600D with the suicide doors and drive it on the sidewalk! Shocked Razz

FIAT -Fuck It All Together. My first car was an '81 spyder..what a fun car, until it self destructed!

I'm about to replace my wifes 99 beetle with an element -we're sick of seeing the damn check engine/abs lights constantly on. i like the idea of an interior you can clean with a garden hose, and i'm sure they are reliable.

Robert Cumberford from Automobile mag. is my idol, as far as styling opinions go. You should see his 'design analysis' of the Aztec...it's freaking hilarious! If i can find it, i'll post it.

I'm busted Embarassed ! I guess E.B. didn't like an Aztek in the VW rare parts pic gallery! Yes, i know, it was stupid of me to do that. Not that it makes it, but i think i was going on my 12th beer that night. Anyways, i started a thread in the 'site' forum asking if there was a place to upload non-vw images to post on the forums.

Not quite but definitely a chapter in my "career"! Shocked

It happened in my idiot youth. Kinda funny in a very stupid way. Stopped at the g/f house and discovered a gas leak at the carb hose. True to being an idiot decided to DRIVE it home to fix it! Rolling Eyes Hey, it was just a few blocks. While on my way home going by the basketball court where EVERYONE hangs out, it goes FOOOFF! Shocked So I stop, everyone is running in to help me, then some smart ass yells "hey, do you have gas in the tank?" To which I say "Yeah, and it's full!" At that point everyone proceeded to do an inmediate "about-face" and started running away! Crying or Very sad Lucky for me one of my (true) friends was either brave enough or just plain stupid and faced the fire with his extinguisher and put it out! Rolling Eyes

Needless to say I was the talk of the town for some time and of those that are still around not one has forgoten about it! Embarassed

Along the lines of the Avalanche, did Cadillac really need to make a pick-up? Who driving a Cadillac is hauling anything? "The new Cadillac EXT. Room enough for 24 golf bags!" Wouldn't be surprised if the bed is carpeted.

Maybe it's for people, buying $40,000 Splitties off the Samba, to get them home.

you are right... the ugliest...
and thanks for saying all french autos are ugly, but I have a Peugeot 206... quite normal for a young in Europe...

But I could enter one new car on the list... did you ever see a Renault Twingo? Really ugly... Confused

All over the morning I was thinking about... VW (not very original, is it?). I thought at the affirmation : 'and all the french cars'... Mad

I was right with the twingo, wasn't I? but I don't agree due to the Citroën 2CV (deux chevaux= 2 horses)... I like it!

I would rather drive an ass-ugly car than a bland econobox any day. If I were buying a new car the Element and Scion are the top two on my list, partialy because they are UGLY.

Are there any gook looking new cars under $40K? I can't think of any.
