Can anyone tell me what this is and how much it is worth? I know it is hard to tell, with these photos but the owner was very old and recently died and his kids just want it off their hands. I'd like to make them a fair offer. Perhaps someone can tell me it is worth X if it runs or Y if it is in horrible condition etc.
Any advice?

It looks like a 1973 VW Thing (181). The third digit of the vin# will tell you for sure. Looks in very good shape from the grainy picture. Anyone who would attempt to give you a value from it would be only guessing (or a pea wit). Stay on this forum and look at the Things for sale in the classifieds for a money vs shape idea. Also on this forum use the search in "forums" to find out what to look for when buying one. Do some research on the internet. There are several great websites out there on the car and it's variants. The condition of the body counts more than the condition of the engine, tranny, and suspension. That said, if it will not run, you can discount the price a long way, as few people want a car if it will not start and run. |
