I didn't find what I was looking for in search...

I'm looking for an aftermarket exhaust header for my 67 1600cc SP.
I want the dual pipe exhaust that fits in the cut outs (finish type doesn't matter), gives more than 1/4" of clearance when pulling or installing the engine, and still work with the heaters.

What are some options for a guy surviving off his GI Bill?

Depending on the sound you want... and the amount you want spend..

Note most headers allow for the preheater connection... sometimes.. looses its function.. Its about flow and pressure difference between the sides..

These are probably the most commonly used for direct muffler replacement. ..
....
These sound about like a stinger with a sock in it..

These sound traditional low deep VW sound... no fweeemmm pea shooter sound..
