Gimme what ya got...
"You'll (never) use the hook, do it/don't do it"
"US spec bumpers are the bomb/look clunky"
"Euro spec bumpers look clean/plain/boring"
Please vote... hook interferes w/US spec bumper guard.
Pic is just one from the Gallery, to show bumper.

Personally I like overiders. The tow hook kind of looks like a hack, that I wouldn't use much. I've ran euro blades as well but a nice us spec bumper looks nice on a bus it is intended for. |

Gosh, I have been wanting to install a tow hook and just hadn't got the nerve up to cut a hole in the bus yet.
I never realized the bumper upright/ tow hook incompatibility.
I like the hook and I like the upright bumpers. Aarghhh!

Use the tow hook and the upright but make it like a '55-'56 Chevy taillight where you flip up (or sideways) a stealth secret compartment to access the hook. |

I like the look of the hook too, but also like the US spec. bumpers, especially on a bus with 62- taillights.
I don't think I would cut a hole in virgin sheet metal to mount a hook. If I were replacing a rusty lower corner, then I would consider it.
Regarding the tow hook/upright mounting problem; my guess is that VW did not sell many US spec. ambulances? _________________ WANTED:

Would be slick though.

Installing the hook would only bother me as much as disturbing the metal for radio antenna, tent mount, rear Hurst bumper, cig lighter, dash grab handle, safari window nut plates, etc.
I don't consider it as sac-religious as a roof vent, rear wheel arches, dash radio hack or porthole windows.
FWIW... I think I'll be running Euro tail lights. _________________ aka: Evan
