I found a maglight in the road this morning, what neat/useful items have you found for free in/on/near the road?

Years ago parallel parked, open door and a twenty dollar bill was stuck to the hot tar. Founds sockets, wrenches etc. _________________ Volkswagen: We tune what we drive.

I found a real nice pair of diagonal cutters in the road, still use them.
Walking home from a restaurant with Mrs. Cusser, found a $10 bill in the street.
I once found a very large pry bar in the engine compartment of my dad's car, some mechanic must've left it there (sure wasn't my dad, he would not have known which end to hold, or how to open the hood).
At the parts yard, I've found a few hand tools, nothing special. _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each. I found a VW horn once. When I got home I realized it was mine and that I must have forgotten to tighten the bolts down when I had worked on it earlier in the week. _________________ Brian

While guarding my buddies broken down 21w on a freeway merge in San Jose a few years ago, I shite you not, I found a VW peashooter that had been squished completely flat- just calling my name. We missed out on Mark Merrill's open house that year. I wrote in sharpie on it and awarded it to my buddy- but he had a better trophy in store.
The message was a quote my good friend said many times, "Yea, I built it, it's an 1835"
On the other side I wrote, "I screwed 5 friends out of Mark Merrill's- 2008"
He did get a proper trophy and awards ceremony at our club meet- with a broken con rod that had the same plaque. _________________

Found the big screwdriver on a gravel road near Redding, CA. Mainly cool because it's a good match for the smaller one that was my Dad's.

I found this home made Hammer while walking to work @ 4 a.m., Boulder Co. in 1980, works great as a small breaker bar for a socket wrench too... _________________ Tom

You shoulda used them for your front porch bandit, loosen the lids, box them up & set them out. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

Found a real cool "Krebster" 3/8" ratchet at the curb while walking to lunch years ago. Still gets more use then my proper Snap on unit that I bought brand new off of the truck.
Also found a nice Linemans Telephone hand set in the street one day. I've used it a few times, but mostly an un needed tool.
Found a complete set of PG&E linesman tools on the side of the road, had a nice Fluke meter in it as well as a Aluminum Ridgid pipe wrench and a gas sniffer and a complete compliment of Klein hand tools. It had a guys name on the bag, I called Pg&E and with in 2 hours the guy was re united with his tools. He tried to give me a $100.00 but I said " No, just pass it on "

Found a nice short handle sledge hammer in the gutter in NYC years ago. That BFH served me well, till one of my kids left it somewhere....
Lots of broken craftsman screwdrivers. I just take em in and get a new one. _________________ my59: Well son, my grandfather died before I got to drive it, so does that answer your question?
