I would love to see pictures of your 68 bug if you have some interior, exterior and engine pics to show off.
I am working really hard to get mine put back together and there are some cosmetic things I am still undecided on, nothing inspires or sparks ideas like pictures! What are some of the best tweaks or "upgrades" you have done to your bug?
I am still undecided on a stereo and speakers so any input on those would be awesome too.. Hoping we can wrap up the body work this week and get her painted so the interior can start going back together!

I'm in the same boat as you, have a 68 I picked up earlier this year. Did some minor work and I'm just enjoying her while the weather is nice here. Going to do the major restoration this winter.
Here is a pic of her on the shores of Lake Erie.

Thats a sweet looking ride!! Love the background too!!
If mine looked that good I would be very happy!! Hopefully soon, once the paint is done!
Thanks for sharing, that is inspirational for sure! _________________ My First Beetle Project: 1968 Bug -

not a 68 but there may be some stuff I did on mine that can give you some ideas.
Good luck! |
Beautiful car!!! I love your build thread, there is so much information in there and very well documented. Thank you so much for sharing! I will be looking at it as I hit the various stages of my restore.
Do you want to come to TN and work on a 68?? LOL _________________ My First Beetle Project: 1968 Bug -

You might broaden the responses if you change your title to include all beetles. Most have similar lines, after all. If you narrow down to just one year, you will not get to see some good ideas that you might use on your bug.
Also, go to the Classifieds here on the Samba. Lots of bugs for sale. They show many pictures of various interior/exterior attributes. They also include some silly combinations .
Show us a few pictures of what you have now.

I don't really know what you are looking for, but here are a few pics of my 69, which for all intents and purposes is the exact same as a 68 excepting a few minor differences

Some may disagree, but I think '68 and '69 were the best looking years for the beetle. |

Here is my 70. Drivers seat is slightly mangled, but so is my ass so it all works out.
Cal look no chrome trim, needs pop out quarter glass. I hate the rims but they do look ok. Would much prefer some 8 spokes or some kidney beans.
I love my rear bumper and would put one on the front if some P.O.s. hadn't taken the front marker lights off the fenders. Replacing the headlight bezels with chrome and eyelids. _________________ Keep on Dubbin'! |

Ok now this is a first for me. I have never seen anyone use the 67 backup lights as "fog/driving" lights. Really cool idea. Oh and the canoe on the roof is cool too . I like that it matches your paint.

1968 just happens to be peak production over 400,000 worldwide last year for the swing axle, neat. Mr. Nordoff died that year as well. Best looking? Here's my 70 autostik very similar

'68 bug from New Zealand. 68 is the best year? I'd agree.

My '68 has gone through some changes over the years... And starting this weekend it'll look different yet again! Dropping her off for bodywork and a fresh coat of paint.
