I am going to try and look at this car tomorrow. I have heard it has been sitting out for over 4 years. Hoping it is an Acapulco.

With that frame in the background, it's a sure bet. |

Took the words right outta my mouth!
It'd be real good if they're willing to sell!! They may just be one of those "I'm gonna restore it someday" folks that never touch the car......
Or possibly a "I seened one go on the tv car auction for *insert rdiculous sum here* and it's a collectors item.... That's my retirement account sitting There!"
Good luck in your adventure.....!!! _________________ '74 Thing, "Our Thing"....

Sure looks like an Acapulco, but sitting outside in the rust belt without windows or a cover for years has got to have taken its toll... |

When the local hoodlums came and broke out every pane of glass on that car it likely broke the owner's heart too- and they can't visual that car nice again. It is the ideal time to offer fair money for it. If it were close to me it would already be mine. _________________

Update: I have been to this house twice now and there is never anyone home. I had a chance to take a closer look and it is definitely an Acapulco. I verified the running boards, the bolts, and the blue color behind the dash panels. The seats still have the blue and white striping. The floor boards look solid and everything looks like it is there. Not sure about the motor and I don't think the wheels are original.
I will be back there again this evening with the hopes of finding someone home.
What do you folks think is a fair price to offer? It will need a total repaint, interior and most likely engine work. _________________ Ray

You could also pm me the address and I would be willing to "help" you... I agree with looking at property records.
If you hit a dead-end let me know I would love to figure out how to save this one. |

I did leave a note. I spoke with 2 neighbors that told me they rarely see anyone at the house. I have a friend who patrols this area and I may recruit his help as well. I would really like to save this car. I will look at public records and see if I can find them on FB. Who knows? We may have common friends. _________________ Ray

Update! I heard back from the owner. He was very nice. He is the second owner, it is a real Acapulco that came from CA. It has spent most of its life there. The only rust is below the battery tray. Needs total restoration and paint. He has all 3 tops. He is planning on restoring it. Told him to keep me in mind if he ever decides to sell. Hoping to stay in touch with him. _________________ Ray
