Trying to get some help on this split beetle its a 1952, split dash with oval rear window the owner has said that the rear window has been replaced although he is unable to find any welds as it has old head lining still fitted & doesn't want to remve it. I asked if it was a zwitter & person has said it is not. The birth certificate details are listed below. Is it possible to get clarification with the info to say wheather it is a split beetle as I've seen several that have been updated to look like ovals
thanks for your assistance

All '52s were splits. So it seems it would be a rear window modification if the VIN is for a 52. Looks like the pan number or engine number you gave is for a January '51. Have him give you the body number as well. (below the vin plate).

Yes a January or February '52 would be a split dash split. If the rear post was just cut out, you can tell by the "oval" will be pointer than a graphed oval from a later car.

Hi Joshua,

thanks for your reply. The person said it was definitely an oval window as he said they are a different shape to the split window with the centre post removed. The person has said that he obtained measurements which indicate it's an oval window
cheers Dave

It was not uncommon to just cut the split bar.
The result is an oval looking window with little differend shape to the original later oval window.
If the car now has an oval window with original shape, then the whole split window section must have been replaced by an later oval window section.
That was done also sometimes.
For sure an early 1952 did not came with an oval window. Just not.
No matter what the owner tells.
