Hello,

I have a '70 type 3 with a bad ignition coil. I looked up the replacement Bosch Blue coil and stumbled across several threads and reviews expressing discontent. I'd like to upgrade, but I'm not sure what brand/type of coil to go with. At present I have the stock distributor and Bosch copper spark plug wires, but am willing to upgrade these as well. What do you guys use in your T3s?

Thank you for any information Exclamation

Black Bosch coils are earlier/better than any of their Blue coils.

I bought a new Brazilian Bosch blue coil a few years ago after my original finally crapped out. Its worked well for me so far.

This is the one to get:

Not any of the other lesser ones with the goofy stickers on them.

As Mike mentioned, the black ones are better, but are also pretty much nonexistent. I saw an NOS one on ebay a few months ago I should have bought but didnt.

The hierarchy goes sorta like this:

1. Original Bosch black coil (German)
2. Original Bosch blue coil (German)
3. Bosch blue replacement (Brazilian)

However unless you can find it NOS, its not really worth buying a used one for the same price when a new one is like 50 bucks.
