I'm baffled, and can't find what looks like a matching situation in the many forum discussions on this general subject. Here's my problem:

Flashers work properly. Dash indicator flashes. Turn signals work properly. Dash indicator doesn't. Grounds seem fine, since the indicator light does work, very nicely, for the flasher circuit.

I have an aftermarket flasher relay (from a VW source, the "black box") and an aftermarket EMPI flasher switch (also from a VW source, where they claimed it was a match for a Thing).

Since there's only one wire that feeds the indicator, I'm suspicious of the flasher switch, which, it seems to me, is the only place where flasher and turn-signal circuits are differentiated where the indicator is concerned.

Is there some kind of secret handshake workaround, some kind of jumper that I need to install to make the indicator work as it should?
