I have a '55 with a period correct engine.

There is fine film all over the engine and engine bay. Is it from the case vent hose that passes thru the right side of the engine tin leading from the oil filler stand? I'm suspecting it is and being an air cooled engine the air turbulence is blowing the oil all over the place. Anyone else have this issue?

My main concern is that I drip oil when the car is at rest and when I visit friend's homes I feel bad leaving an oil stain behind. If this fine oil residue is due to that case vent tube has anyone routed it thru a Puke Bottle set up?

you probably have a lot of blow by.you need to do a leak down test. .i suspect you need a ring job at least. no good running motor needs a puke can unless you dont want to fix it and still drive. Brick wall Eh?

Maybe I am reading this wrong but the tube you describe exits under the engine so I'm not sure how oil mist from that location would get back into the engine compartment.

I have had that breather tube drip some oil when stopped on my old '55 with a well-used engine but it's minimal.

It could be the seal under your oil filler/breather leaking a little, depending on how much oil is covering everything.

Is the top of the generator stand open to inside of the case? if the generator clamp was loose it would leak.

Is it a hose or tube. Original is a tube. If it is a hose you may be missing something. A straight hose will leak if there isnt some type of catch. The 36er has baffles in stand, picture?

Yes, it is on a 36hp.
It is possible for oil to come up from the stand under the generator if it's not sealed.

I think the baffle was only an option, not stock on all 36ers.
