I have checked the search function and sadly nobody has posed this question before so here goes.
I am doing some low level PM work on my 66 bus. The condenser that came off the bus looks like an engine part from the Titanic (rusty as all get up and no 'shit here' post-it notes included to help the new owner out). Shopping at my favorite online VW parts shop, there are 4 condensers on offer. The 36 and 40HP are totally wrong so now I am down to 2 (the 1966-1970 and 1971 to 1979 options). My bus is a 66 so naturally I ordered the 66-70 option. While both condensers look the same (except the new replacement is shiny silver and not rust wrapped in electrical tape), does anyone know whether these two parts are interchangeable? By the way, that's my smooth way of asking whether anyone knows whether I will toast my bus shortly after turning the key in the ignition?
Thanks for the help in advance. |

Perfect!! I just started the bus and it fired right up. Just got a little jittery for a moment. |

Just make sure to carry spare parts or even a fully loaded up spare distributor.
