Does anyone know how much is involved in importing and exporting cars, as i am seriously thinking about importing a beetle from america to the uk as you seem to know how to restore a beetle much better than most over here, and those that do want an arm and a leg for one |

I imagine that would be pretty expensive.. All the way to the UK.. I've heard of people paying $1000.00 just to have a car shipped from California to New York in the US. |

Not that expensive at all. You will pay $675.00 for a small bug and $875.00 for a bus. This is from Long Beach to Felixstowe or Thamesport. I work for a shipping company CFR Line and the rate is good. You will pay 260 pounds in the U.K. for unloading and custom clearing and the VAT should be 5% as opposed to the normal 17.5% because it can come in as a historical vehicle. Hope this helps. _________________ Joseph Giranda |

That is a good question. You can email [email protected] he is our agent in the UK and will be able to answer completely for you. Just make sure to tell him Joey at CFR Line gave you his email. _________________ Joseph Giranda |

I am exporting a bus to Great Britain, and the export firm out of Florida is requesting I file and obtain a Employer/ Employee Identification Number (EIN) for the U.S. Customs process. I have refused to do so, as I am fully aware of what an EIN is and the purpose. At the worst, I would propose the export firm is trying to avoid income taxes on the agency fees by providing Customs with my EIN. Not gonna do that. At best? The agency is simply confused.
Anyone else deal with this problem? |

I made it clear to the export agency that there was no way I would file for an Employer's Identification Number, and although the exporter and me went back and forth on this... even with each of us forwarding links to each other from US Customs and the IRS, I stood my ground. They eventually decided to use the Buyer's name and information for their paperwork.
