just seperated the body from the pans. removed the old pans, welded in the new ones. now i am gonna blast to clean everything up. will it be completly rust free. mostly. i plan on using upol raptor liner. my question will the remaining minor rust be ok. should i use etching primer . should i use por or chassis saver first then upol. _________________ go fast or go home |

When I installed new pans on my Baja, I stripped everything to bare metal and rolled on 2 coats of Master Series primer. Let it dry over night, roughed it up with red scotchbrite and sprayed the Raptor. For the remaining spots that may not be clean enough from rust, I used the Eastwood fast etch metal cleaner, it removed all traces of rust. Then primed over it.
Here's a safety tip, spray the Raptor outside, I could smell it through my 3M filter mask and it requires 2 coats to achieve good coverage per the directions. _________________ 1970 Baja 1641cc, 1965 Gltterbug Buggy 1641cc and a 1989 Jeep Cherokee XJ |
