Beetle body to floorpan washers

quick question, is there a reason for the shape of the stock floorpan washers?
if I wanted to could I use a flat washer instead? or even an L profile rather than a U profile.

I guess you could use flat washers. Would need to be something heavy and you will end up cutting flats into them anyway because things dont quite line up. Way more work than what a set costs CIP1 sells a set of 10 for $13. Seriously, if a flat washer was fine, VW would have used them.

absolutely. of course they would... but I want to run a fuel line tucked up in the channel, so if I had an L section I can use pipe clips on the opposite side...

That makes sense - small lengths of angle bracket would be handy for that
