Nice find. Congratulations.
Do you know the story behind the wheel wells and engine louvers? I can't recall seeing a but cut like that before. |

No story with the cuts. Just a 10 year old needed sheet metal for his dune buggy. I have a newer donor bus lined up |

Nice bus. I can see what looks like original blue painted passenger side floors which don't appear to be rusty. If that thing is as rust free as it looks, it is pretty amazing. _________________ 1986 westfalia auto 1.9TD

That thing is relatively mint. It barndoor terms, it's not far from "mint minus"...
But seriously, you could do a LOT worse... what a f-i-n-e bus. Congrats dude! |

Wow that really is something special. Can i ask what your plans are?
Any leads on the buggy? It wouldn't be to big a stretch to think it might have your engine, gearbox, speedo pod and headlights as well as the sheet metal. |

I would love to see that thing raised up at least another 3-4 feet on the saw horses. Just get 10-15 buddies, a few cases of beer, and carry it out on your shoulders. ! Whoa, actually it's probably already at that height. Go for it. But record it for us. |

If you look at the second last picture with the dirt road, you can almost imagine that bus driving along that road in the 1950's.
Very solid looking bus with original parts that are probably now "unobtanium" _________________ 1986 westfalia auto 1.9TD

Transmission got tacked in today. Quick vacuum and a power wash. Hand painted logos revealed Midland Auto Wholesales. Parts Distributors. Very cool being able to trace back to where it was over 30 years ago. Now to do some digging to see what happened to the company. |
