|
|
I'm still in the mock-up stage of my WW Okrasa build, but I've ran into a problem with the fan shroud bolts.
The inboard intake nuts has to be secured before the fan shroud is installed. Once the intakes are installed, I can't get the fan shroud bolts started into the cylinder tin. There's not enough space between the intake and the shroud.
Has anyone had/solved this problem?
thanks,
jdub

Instead of the usual sheet metal screws, I switched to the 10mm fan shroud bolts so you can get a wrench in there. Worked fine. _________________ "Do you see what happens Larry?!?!" |

I should have put a ruler next to the intake for the picture, I think it's 2- 4mm clearance, so I can't get a bolt started, regardless of the head type.
Maybe I should just open the slot in the cylinder tins and have the bolt installed with a washer to slide over the tin, then tighten... |

turn the bolt hole in the cyl. tin into a SLOT & shroud, with bolt will drop right in _________________ see ya' on the trail........

Two thoughts:
Follow Mr. Bill's suggestion or don't worry about it. With the generator strap tightened down, the shroud isn't moving.
A small hex head would work as well |

Same challenge I had with mine! I lifted the fan shroud and the cylinder tin a bit so I could reach it. Make sure you don't have the other screws fastened, start with these! |

That sounds like a good simple solution... Thanks.

I opted for hex head bolts. The treads are pretty short but it all goes together well.

Agreed! I choosed the same method and after some attempts it worked.
Just make sure the threat of the bolt and the nut is working well |
